In The Beginning...

Aaah.  January of 2014.  New Year.  New Resolutions.   It's all about the "new you".  Blah, blah, blah.    All of that garbage makes me nuts!  I don't believe in New Year's Resolutions.  I don't believe there is anything magic about starting something on the first day of a new year.  I FIRMLY believe that if you KNOW you need to be doing something, you need to get busy and just do it.  If that happens to fall on the first of the year...good on ya.  But if you become aware of it in say, March, or July, or late in the month of November...then you need to GET BUSY!  And so...if you are looking for a little New Year's inspiration...I assure you...I'm not your girl.

I am working on my weight.  This is not new.  This is ongoing.  For several years now, as a matter of fact.   And I have been VERY successful.  Multiple times!  As a matter of fact, I have lost and regained the same exact ten pounds more times than I can even begin to count!  I commit to the process.  Put in the time.  Work up the sweat.  Watch what I eat.  See GREAT results on the scale.  And then...KABLOOEY!!!!!  It all goes up in smoke and I am back at square one.  An altogether way too familiar square!  It's frustrating.  I'm getting older.  My metabolism has definitely taken the age hit.  So even though I am eating better than I have ever eaten and am more consistent now with my exercise than I have EVER been...I am still struggling.  It would seem...there is precious little room for "relaxing the rules" in the game of watching the weight.  But I've got to get back on it.  Again.  I can't stand what I see in the mirror.  The muffin top is exploding and trying to send my pants south.  It is not comfortable and it most certainly is NOT a pretty picture.  And so...I'm taking a different approach.  I'm watching it still.  Big time.  But I sure am going to try to record my thoughts here so I can see them and revisit them.  Because I know without a doubt that I will NEED them.  I'm on a high today.  Because I have a strategy in place!

I have dusted off my Weight Watchers app on my phone and have faithfully tracked every single morsel that crossed my lips for 24 hours now.  I was able to stay OP yesterday (that would be On Program in WW lingo) and went to bed feeling very satisfied with myself and my efforts.  The scale even showed a ONE pound weight loss for me this morning.  Whoopee!!!!  In addition, I'm on track for a good day so far today.  AND I went to the gym and logged an additional SEVEN activity points for my sweating!  I do love a little buffer at the end of the day!  What did I eat you might be wondering?  Well...so far today, I have had one gluten free waffle (3 points), 1/2 cup of plain, nonfat Chobani Greek yogurt with a drizzle of honey(4 points) and a cup of blackberries, along with coffee for my breakfast.  Then, after I got home from the gym, I had 2 1/2 oz of roast beef and 3/4 cup of cherry tomatoes for a snack (total points value of 3).  As I sit here...my brain is trying to tell me it's hungry.  But I'm certain it's not.  And SO...I need a strategy!  I just finished a shower and my hair is still wet (though drying quickly in the desert air!).  I'm off to get my hair dry and my makeup on.  Then I'm going to dive in and clean my oldest son's room for a bit.  If you never hear from me again...send the search party in the direction of Max's room!  After that...I have a ridiculous pile of recipes that need to be sorted and put into SOME sort of filing system!  It's a huge project I've been putting off.  But plan to dig into today!  And so...thanks for joining me here on my Operation MuffinTop journey!  I would love to know how YOU are tackling this journey.  Your successess and secrets!  I plan to post pictures of my meals on here too...just so I can keep a visual journal of what GOOD eating looks like!  Have a GREAT Wednesday!  Don't put off until tomorrow what you KNOW you should be doing today!  In the words of the oh so famous Nike Swoosh...JUST DO IT!!!!  That's my plan and I'm sticking to it!
